SOCIO-ECONOMIC SURVEY in NEW CHUMTA

Old Chumta village, 27TH August 2016:NSS unit had organized the one day field survey in New and Old Chumta villages. Field survey was held with 20 members and two faculties in the villages to study the socio-economic status. The NSS group distributed exercise books, stationeries and sweets from the fund collected by the members participating in the field survey. Reaching the village, the members were divided into 4 groups having 5 people in each group. Each group surveyed 12-15 houses. They surveyed on the income, education and the sanitation and health aspects of the people.

After completion of the survey, the group members were taken to Auxillium Convent in New Chumta. After we met with the sisters, the team handed over some clothes donated by NSS volunteers for the poor people of the village. The team then had the interactive session on their personal experience. Then again they were divided into 3 groups where each team were assigned the responsibility for writing an article each on income, education and health aspects of the villages respectively for the college magazine “Sparkle”. Each of the members who participated in the field survey, were also asked to prepare a project based on the survey of the houses. The informants were cooperative and polite to the team. The NSS team during their survey also brought awareness among the people on proper sanitation and education prospects.

Finally, the programme officially got over with an ‘NSS clap’. The team reported back to the campus at around 2:45pm.
